 About Kenyan Network of Cancer Organizations (KENCO)

Kenyan Network of Cancer Organizations is the National umbrella body of 35 cancer NGOs, patient groups and community-based organizations that are active in different aspects of cancer control. Leveraging on our strong membership and numbers and providing a platform for a united response to the cancer burden, we are focused on Advocacy, Capacity Building, and Partnerships

Job Summary 


Under the guidance of the Kenyan Network of Cancer Organizations (KENCO) Board of Directors and reporting to the Board chairperson; the Executive Director is expected to provide overall leadership to the KENCO. 

The key result areas include, but not limited to: 


Resource mobilization and grant writing 

Program planning, implementation and monitoring, evaluation and research.

Key Liaison with Government agencies, donors, media, and related partners. 

Human resource management and day-to-day operational leadership.

Strengthening the Membership and fostering teamwork in cancer control.

Fiscal management and budget tracking.

Development of relevant organizational documents, policies, and processes.

Implementation of the KENCO strategic plan 2023-2027

Support to the Board of Directors.

Representing KENCO in key strategic meetings.

Any other duties as allocated by the supervisor.

Basic Attributes: 


Academic/Professional Qualifications 


A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or any health discipline or Social Sciences with additional qualifications in Program Management. A Master's degree will be an added advantage.

Work Experience and Skills 


A minimum of 5 years of experience providing senior leadership in designing and executing strategic programs, advocacy, and fundraising activities in healthcare, preferably in a non-profit setting.

Extensive Knowledge of the healthcare landscape in Kenya.

Experience working with civil society is a plus.

Prior experience in cancer or non–non-communicable Disease control is an added advantage.

Proven and demonstrable track record in fundraising. 

Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking, writing, editorial, and presentation skills.

Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and partnership development capabilities.

Basic knowledge of financial management systems for non-profit organizations including legal and tax compliance.

Proficient in computer skills: MS Office and Social Media 

Excellent oral and written communication, and experience with donor requirements for report writing

Personal attributes 


A self-starter, go-getter, excellent in time management, and can work well independently and within a team. 

Passionate and enthusiastic about policy advocacy and fundraising for a cause especially cancer control.
